Yes! Attending Reunion
Residing In: Creal Springs, IL USA
Spouse/Partner: Stephen, retired
Occupation: RN, retired
Children: Julie, born 1966, Systems analyst with Patterson Industries

This year 2 new babies have joined More…out family. In March Julie and Eric became foster parents of Davey, an 11 mo. old. And In July, Davey's little newborn sister Alivia prematurely came to them. I have been dividing my time between work and doing "night-nanny" duty for 6 wks. now. Surprisingly, I fine I really like it. Who would have thought it?
Comments:

Retirement was wonderful until Christmas day last year. Steve, my husband became I'll and come to find out was no so much a respiratory problem as cardiovascular. Open heart on Jan. 2 AND THEN a slow decline until his death on Feb. 27. So now I Am trying to find my footing and start a life on my own. Funny, 70 and starting over.

Happily semi-retired (from Nursing Administration and now do part time Med/Surg nursing and trouble shooting.) in Southern Illinois. Husband Steve (retired Community College Vice President, ex-English Dept. Chairman, daughter Julia, Systems Analyst at Patterson Industries, son in-law Eric, a high school math teacher and 2 cats.

Semi retirement allows me to keep my hand in nursing and yet have time to enjoy our little 15 acre wilderness in no man's land.

Aside from Night-Nanny, I still work part time as an RN on the Med/Surg floor. Yes the kids on 7PM to 7AM kept recruiting me until I finally agreed to change shifts. Since I am more of a night person anyway, this was an easy change. It also means I only have to work 3 shifts in a 2 wk. period without losing money. I'm all for that. It leaves me more time to play Grandma and do my thing at home. This month Steve and I are going to take a 14 day train tour of the northwest and pacific states with stop-overs in Seattle and Sacramento. I plan to take a lot of books for the train and comfortable shoes for sightseeing.

I HAVEN'T POSTED A COMMENT IN YEARS. But still alive and kicking. Truth is I dread checking this webpage! Every time I do, I find another classmate has died, and I take this to heart. I find a little part of each of us dies with them. I feel the sadness of family and friends of the classmate and know what it is to lose someone you love more thane yourself. Its been almost 7 years since Steve dies and the nightmare began on Christmas Day 2016 and ended February 27, 2017. He made it through Christmas, New Years, our anniversary. Valentine's Day and my birthday. I can hardly stand Christmas through the end of February andy more. But my God what and effort he made to stay with me. so for all of you who have lost loved ones that I didn't send you sympathy and condolences, please forgive me.

Rick, I just checked the webpage.  I am so  sorry to hear about Marggi.   Although I didn't know her more than to speak of, but I'm sure she was a wonderful person.  The loss must be shattering I know.  And there is never enough time with one we love.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.   Janie Simpson Tietz

So sad. I lost Steve after 51 yrs, more than half my life. be so thankful for the memories and photos. Life does indeed go on though. And then there is COVID-19. Wishing you the best. Definitely celebrate his life. And celebrate yours as well. We are all a lot tougher than we ever thought. Janie

Well looks like I am going to miss another class reunion! I have decided Tickhaven is just to much for one person to take care of. So I am in the process of getting set up and moving to Effingham, I'll. What's in Effingham? Well my daughter and her family. And it is time. 15 acres is just to much to keep up and the place was ment for a family and kids! Not a single 73 year old ex nurse. So ..... I will say good bye to it. BUT I am keeping my tractor, mower, chainsaw and the power tools! No telling when I may decide to take up a new career! Wish me luck.

Of course I remember you. I know what you mean about no family left in Ill. I am here, and my daughter Julie and her family are here, but I am beginning to feel like I am going to out live everyone I knew well. Susie is of course in Seattle, so her not getting to every reunion is understandable. Me? I just haven't. no excuses. my husband of 51 years died in 2017 and all of a sudden I am feeling it is a good idea. So barring something major coming up, I intend being there. I wonder if I will recognize any one. Arleen, of course, and peggy lockwood. Susie if she makes it. and a few others. Hope to see you there.

Hey gypsy girl, they have set a date for next reunion, And barring any surprise issues I actually plan to attend. It's been 20 or more years since I have been up to Crystal Lake and It is questionable I will even know my way around, but I am going to try. Hope to see you there. But if not, maybe I could fly up to Washington some time.
